Rebuilding America’s Neighborhoods →
Creating a functioning community is the most important part of creating communities. Instead of more government subsidies or demolition, we should look more towards the past and how immigrants have made America work. The author looks at how some immigrant communities fully support themselves. I support the notion that a green economy could really help us rebuild our older neighborhoods and that urban agriculture deserves a serious look, as we move towards living sustainably. An amnesty program for undocumented immigrants could indeed fuel this revival. Whether you agree with the before mentioned or not, self-sustaining neighborhoods are ‘in’ and will only become more important as we work to stabilize our broken neighborhoods.
