This is a humanitarian nightmare.  Effectively the federal government has enacted policies that force border crossers to take more dangerous routes and will stop at nothing to ensure that no one helps these border crossers along the way.  I don’t think it’s ok to let these people dehydrate to death just because they committed a non-capital offense by entering the country illegally.  Clearly there are more pressing issues for law enforcement and our courts to pursue.
