US tops world in health care spending, results lag →

From the article: “The United States ranks near the bottom in life expectancy among wealthy nations despite spending more than double per person on health care than the industrialized world’s average, an economic group said Tuesday.”

Unfortunately the bills before Congress will probably do very little to change this, even though there will likely be some kind of public health plan option available.  As you read this, the Senate is arguing about removing the government from the proposed  public health plan and letting the insurance companies run it.  We desperately need universal single payer healthcare to fix things once and for all.
