brake dust
the other day i replaced the front brakes on my car and was reminded of why i do most of my car maintenance myself.
while i was living in san francisco, my mom drove my car around for two years and had taken it to the dealership for new brakes.
last month i hit the wear indicator on one of my brake pads, so i knew it was time to change them. i finally got the time a couple days ago.
one of my caliper bolts was rusted inside the caliper because someone last time didn’t use any grease or even make sure the rubber boot around the bolt was properly installed. turns out this was causing my pads to wear unevenly and made my brake pedal travel further, because this caliper was unable to work as it was supposed to.
problem solved.
