Hey President Obama →

I wasn’t fooled by Obama’s campaign slogan, “Change We Can Believe In.”  I knew it was bullshit two years ago and I’m not surprised that Obama hasn’t been busy producing real change.

For instance, it doesn’t make sense to bail out failing businesses.  We should be investing in our future instead of desperately trying to keep things the way they have always been.  The free market failed; pure unadulterated capitalism in America has been dead for 80 years.

Our current approach in the financial crisis, throwing money in the fire, only fixes things for the time being, these failed financial institutions will fail again in the future.  When a company grows too large to be responsive to anything besides the stock market, it has outgrown it’s usefulness.  At the heart of business is the customer.

I agree that, “only a radical rethink of our economic paradigm can save us now.”  We cannot go forward pretending that unsustainable business practices are practical.  Our government must protect us from the tragedy of the commons at all costs.  After all, we the people are more important than corporations and profits.
